HKU Alumni’s Long-standing Support for Their Alma Mater

Alumni giving Dr Ronald Lo + Prof Henrietta Lo

Two dedicated alumni recently made generous donations to HKU to support Chinese Medicine and the ongoing development of their alma mater. Their kindness and support exemplify the enduring bond between alumni and HKU, inspiring future generations to give back and uphold its vibrant spirit.

Professor Henrietta Lo 盧慧馨 (BA 1964), a distinguished HKU graduate resides in California, USA, exemplifies a family legacy of compassion and service. Her father, Mr Lo Yin Sung 盧燕生, was a revered practitioner of Chinese medicine. Despite facing significant hardships after the war, the family persisted in providing medical care and distributing medicine to those in need. His unwavering dedication earned him the affectionate title of “Buddha” within his community. Inspired by this noble heritage, Professor Lo has continuously contributed to the HKU School of Chinese Medicine, ensuring that future generations can benefit from the enduring values of healing and generosity.

The HKU Foundation was deeply touched to receive a heartfelt donation from Dr Ronald Lo 羅佐華 (MBBS 1970), a beloved medical alumnus, dedicated mentor, and former President of the HKU Alumni Association UK Chapter. During his recent visit to Hong Kong, Dr Lo joyfully reunited with his classmates on campus to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Medical Class of 1970—a joyful occasion filled with nostalgia and camaraderie.

Grateful for the education that shaped his life, Dr Lo arrived with a generous donation to the HKU Foundation. He entrusted the university with the flexibility to allocate his gift to areas of greatest need, whether advancing academic research, supporting scholarships and bursaries, or fostering development projects. The interest generated from his contribution will help sustain these vital initiatives for years to come.
