General Questions

HKU Alumni Day will be hosted on Sunday, 16 March 2025 (The HKU Foundation Day), from 11:00-17:00, at the HKU Main Campus.

Yes! Alumni Day is free for all! We also welcome your family and friends!

Of course, guests are welcome on Alumni Day! You may bring up to 4 guests. Please register everyone attending as your guest(s) in your registration form.

We’d love for kids to join the fun of Alumni Day. We offer family-oriented events including Magic Show, Inno Wing open house, Campus Tours, Mini Dentist Workshop, and many more games and souvenirs. Make sure to register everyone who is attending as your guest(s) in your own registration form.

Yes! This year, HKU Alumni Day features a range of exclusive souvenirs. Some items are limited editions and are expected to sell out quickly! To ensure you get your share, you can pre-order them here and pick them up at our souvenir booth on the day of the event. Any remaining stock will be available on a first-come-first-served basis at the souvenir booth on the day. So be sure to stop by!

Casual spring attire is recommended for Alumni Day, but keep in mind, Hong Kong weather in March can be unpredictable so please plan to dress for the elements. We also offer the opportunity to recreate your precious university memories by renting a graduation gown at our booth in Main Building

We invite you to attend our campus tour! They will be held at regular intervals from 11:00 to 17:00, and no pre-registration is needed. Also, upon check-in, you will receive a programme leaflet with the campus map and Alumni Day events.

Registration is now open!

Registration will give you access to the university campus and specific events hosted during the day.

Yes. Please visit our check-in booth upon your arrival to collect a wristband. The wristband will give you access to Alumni Day events. Our check-in counters are located at:

  1. Main Building Promenade
  2. MTR Exit A2

Please use the QR code on your registration confirmation email to check-in.

After registration you will receive a confirmation email with a QR code. Our staff will need to scan your QR code in order to check you in.  

Most events welcome all attendees on a walk-in basis. However, some require separate pre-registration. Please visit our website for more details on these events, and be sure to sign up before you attend!

Most events are open to all on a walk-in basis, available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please make sure you reserve sufficient time for getting to the event venue.

It’s possible your service provider (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc…) sent the confirmation email into your spam/junk/promotions folder. Check for the email there if it does not show up in your primary inbox.

Yes, you can modify your registration information by clicking the link at the bottom of your confirmation email. Once you access the registration portal, you’ll be able to view and edit your previous entries.

Yes, of course! We hope to have your families and friends visiting Alumni Day with you too! You may register them as your guests in the same registration link.

You may visit our website to find out more about various events on Alumni Day!

Yes, of course. You may take part in events organised by any faculties or department, or check out what the Promenade Fair booths have to offer at the Main Building Promenade.

There are plenty activities suitable for kids and families, such as Magic Show, Mini Dentist Workshop, a campus tour, and the games at the Promenade Fair booths. You may visit our event program website to find those events that are kid and family oriented.

You may find our gown rental booth in room MB103 at the Main Building. It is one of the most popular activities for Alumni Day. You may find out more information and pre-order your academic dress here.

HKU Libraries will be open and offer guided tours throughout Alumni Day. The details will be announced in due course.

There is plenty to do around campus when not attending events: take a walk through the corridors of the Main Building to rekindle old memories; reconnect with friends at your favorite spots; take a walk on University Street to see what’s new; enjoy an exhibition at the University Museum and Art Gallery; pay a visit to a HKU library; bring your food and enjoy a picnic with your loved ones at Centennial Park. Don’t forget to explore our brand new Promenade Fair this year, featuring a variety of booths!

Logistics-related Questions

To reach the HKU campus, you can take either the HKU MTR station or the Sai Ying Pun MTR station (Exit C). We expect a large crowd en route to the campus, so please allow sufficient travel time from the MTR station. Alternatively, you can walk from the Sai Ying Pun station (Exit C) along Bonham Road and enter from the HKU East Gate. Please ensure you have enough time to enjoy the activities.

You are encouraged to use public transportation to arrive on campus. You may find public parking spaces around HKU.

A variety of catering options are available throughout campus including selected canteen outlets and local food stalls and restaurants around the area. You can find the opening hours of catering outlets here.

Alumni, as a member of the university, are welcome to visit university canteens. If you encounter long queues at the canteens, you may also consider local food stalls and restaurants as an alternative.

Animals and pets, except service animals assisting disabled persons, are not allowed on campus.

Alumni Day will be cancelled and postponed when Typhoon Warming Signal No.8 is hoisted or when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force. Visitors are recommended to stay in safe locations. When Typhoon Warming Signal No.3 is hoisted or when Red Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force, we will update the event schedule according to the weather condition of the day.

As part of HKU’s efforts to reduce plastic waste by minimizing the use of disposable plastics, HKU does not sell bottled drinks on campus. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle and utilise the free water dispensers on campus.

There are several water dispensers available on the HKU campus. Some can be found at the Union Restaurant (4/F Haking Wong Building Podium), Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre (Canteen), Chong Yuet Ming Building (3/F-4/F), Swire Building (G/F), and LG/F Centennial Building.

In addition to these locations, there are other water dispensers on campus that you can use.

Yes. HKU provides and maintains an accessible environment in our campuses for all persons with specific physical needs. You may find more information here.

Yes. There are 2 baby care rooms on Main Campus and Centennial Campus respectively. They are located at:

  1. Main Campus: Room 106, Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre
  2. Centennial Campus: Room 5.27, The Jockey Club Tower.

Every year, HKU Alumni Day raises fund to support the development and the advancement of the university. Your support is vital in helping HKU to honour the past and strive in the future. We sincerely appreciate your support along the way. You may support HKU by making a direct contribution.

Every gift is essential in shaping the long-term and sustainable development of the faculties in teaching and research, and providing the resources and experiences for students to excel in their chosen fields.

Donations to The University of Hong Kong, under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, are exempt from tax as it is an educational institution of a public character (Cap 1053 University of Hong Kong Ordinance). All donations should be made payable to “The University of Hong Kong”. Donations are cumulative. Donations over HK$20,000 are eligible for HKU Foundation memberships

Official donation receipts will be issued to donors in electronic format via email (unless a donor specifies a printed receipt) with effect from July 1, 2017.

The University welcomes charitable gifts from overseas. Donations from Canadian, UK and US donors are eligible for tax deduction/relief in their respective countries, and may also count towards membership of the HKU Foundation.
