General Questions

HKU Alumni Day will be held on 16 March 2024 (Saturday), between 10:00-17:00, at the HKU Main Campus & Centennial Campus.

Yes. We advise that all alumni register for Alumni Day at your earliest convenience. Upon check-in with your registration QR code, all registrants will be given a wristband for identification purposes in accessing walk-in events and various HKU facilities. Some events with limited capacity can also be pre-registered through the system, and the same registration QR code will allow you access to these as well.

If you have separately registered for Business School Homecoming weekend events, UMAG guided tours, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law events, or reserved an Academic Dress, please refer to the individual confirmation email for further instructions. 

Yes, please check-in with your registration QR code when you arrive on campus on 16th of March. All registrants will be given a wristband for identification purposes to access walk-in events and various  HKU facilities. The check-in counters are located at:

  • Main Building Promenade
  • HKU MTR Exit A2
  • Foyer, LG/F, Centennial Campus (after exiting from MTR Exit C1)

Of course, guests are welcome on Alumni Day! You may bring up to 4 guests. Please register everyone attending as your guest(s) in your registration form.

We’d love for kids to join the fun of Alumni Day! We offer family-oriented and child-friendly events, including magic shows, Mini Dentist Workshop, Geological Museum, Biodiversity Museum, Innovation Wing Adventures and many more. Make sure to register everyone attending as your guest(s) in your registration form, and pick up the wristbands for everyone at one of the check-in counters on 16March.

Yes, Alumni Day is free for all! We also welcome the families and friends of all alumni!

Maps will be available online and on campus. We also invite you to check out the exclusively curated Campus Tours, which offers a fantastic opportunity for a guided tour with insights on campus architecture, history, and plants.

Registration-related Questions

Registration is now open!

Some events may have limited capacity and require pre-registration. These are listed in the registration form and you can register for multiple events as you register for Alumni Day.

Upon successful registration, the events you have registered for will be listed in your confirmation email with a personalised QR code for you to access all of your registered events.

Please be reminded that some events organised by the HKU Business School, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences and guided tours by UMAG have separate registration forms. Please refer to the specific event pages for more information. 

Once you have registered for Alumni Day and checked-in on the day, you will have access to all walk-in events on 16March. 

Some events organised by the Faculties of Architecture, Education, Engineering, HKUMed, Science, and HKU Libraries have limited capacity, and can be pre-registered through the  central registration form. 

Please be reminded that some events organised by the HKU Business School, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences and guided tours by UMAG have separate registration forms. Please refer to the specific event pages for more information. 

Yes, over 30 events on 16March are walk-in events!

For events without a capacity limit, they will be listed on our official website as “walk-in” (and will not be displayed in the registration portal).

Availability is on a first-come-first-served basis. Please make sure you reserve sufficient time to get into the venue.  

For events that require pre-registration, some may have last minute walk-in spots available and allow walk-in guests, so you could also consider checking them out on the day.  Please follow the instructions of on-site staff for details.

 

Unfortunately, we do not have waitlists for events. However, slots may be released if others cancel their pre-registrations. Please check the registration platform from time to time for availability by clicking the “Modify/Cancel/Add Events” button at the bottom of your confirmation email, and select the event(s) you wish to join.

Please be reminded that some events organised by the Faculty of Arts, HKU Business School, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences and guided tours by UMAG have separate registration forms. Please refer to the specific event pages for more information. 

Yes, of course! We hope to have your families and friends visit Alumni Day with you too! You can register them or add/remove them as your guests in your personal registration link, which can be found in your registration confirmation email 

After you successfully register for Alumni Day via our official link HERE, you will receive a confirmation email with a personalised QR code. You will be asked to present this QR code at the check-in and at the individual events for which you have pre-registered. 

Yes. The registration platform will be open throughout 16th of March as well. However, we do encourage you to register early if you wish to attend any events that require pre-registration to secure a spot. It will also save you more time on the day at check-in. 

If your confirmation email does not show up in your primary email inbox, it is possible your service provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) has routed the confirmation email into your spam/junk/promotions folder. If the problem persists, feel free to contact us at alumniday@hku.hk  

No worries at all! Most events on Alumni Day are walk-in. But first things first, please check-in at our counters to get your Alumni Day wristband for access.

Yes, you would still need to register for Alumni Day HERE, to ensure you get your wristband to gain full day access to walk-in events and various HKU facilities.

Alumni Day Events Questions

The first thing you’ll need to do upon your arrival is to check-in at one of our check-in counters. We have a total of three check-in counters, which are open from 9:30 to 17:00.

 They are located at:

  1. Main Building Promenade
  2. HKU MTR Exit A2
  3. Foyer, LG/F, Centennial Campus (after exiting from MTR Exit C1).

Please collect your Alumni Day wristband and information leaflet at the check-in counter. The wristband will give you full day access to walk-in events and various HKU facilities.

Yes. You are welcome to participate in all the events listed on our website.

We suggest arriving 15 minutes before the start of the event to allow sufficient time for check-in. 

Your list of pre-registered events and your personal QR code can be found in your registration confirmation email.

The reservation period is over. However, we still have a limited number of dress available for walk-in guests on the day. The dress rental service fixed charge is HK$300 for Bachelor’s Degrees and Master’s Degrees, HK$400 for Doctoral Degrees with net proceeds going to the HKU New Class Scholarship Fund.

To pickup the dress on the day, please go to our booth at Main Building Room MB103.

The majority of HKU Libraries will open their doors to all alumni between 13:00-17:00 on Alumni Day. Individual libraries also offer tours throughout the day. You can visit our event programme website to find more details.

There is plenty to do around campus if you are not attending any pre-registered events: take a walk through the corridors of the Main Building to rekindle old memories; take pictures with your class at Happy Park; reconnect with friends at your favourite spots; go for a walk on University Street to see what’s new; enjoy an exhibition at the University Museum of Art; pay a visit to the HKU Libraries. Logistics-related Questions

By MTR: you can get off at the HKU MTR station or the Sai Ying Pun MTR station (Exit C). We expect a large crowd en route to the campus, so please allow sufficient travel time from the MTR station. Alternatively, you can walk from the Sai Ying Pun station (Exit C) along Bonham Road.

Several bus routes are also available. You can find your suitable bus route on the HKeMobility website.

Please ensure you leave enough time to enjoy the activities.

You are encouraged to use public transportation to arrive on campus. You may find public parking spaces around HKU.

On campus catering outlets will be open for business as usual. You may find the locations and open hours of catering outlets here

If you encounter long queues at the canteens, you may also consider nearby food stalls and restaurants near the campus as an alternative.

As part of HKU’s efforts to reduce plastic waste by minimizing the use of disposable plastics, HKU does not sell bottled drinks on campus. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle and utilise the free water dispensers on campus.

There are several water dispensers available on the HKU campus. Some can be found at the Union Canteen (4/F Haking Wong Building Podium), Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre (Canteen), Chong Yuet Ming Building (3/F-4/F), Swire Building (G/F), and LG/F Centennial Building.

In addition to these locations, there are other water dispensers on campus that you can use.

We have 2 first aid stations open from 10am to 5pm on Alumni Day. You may find the locations here:

Yes. HKU provides and maintains an accessible environment in our campuses for all persons with specific physical needs. You may find more information here.

Yes. There are 2 baby care rooms on Main Campus and Centennial Campus respectively. They are located at:

  1. Main Campus: Room 106, Chong Yuet Ming Amenities Centre
  2. Centennial Campus: Room 5.27, The Jockey Club Tower.

Animals and pets, except service animals assisting disabled persons, are not allowed on campus.

Alumni Day will be cancelled and postponed when Typhoon Warming Signal No.8 is hoisted or when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force. Visitors are recommended to stay in safe locations. When Typhoon Warming Signal No.3 is hoisted or when Red Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force, we will update the event schedule according to the weather condition of the day.
