ABOUT THE MUSEUM
Founded in 1953, the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) is the oldest continuously operated museum in Hong Kong. When the Museum of Chinese Art and Archaeology was founded in 1953, the Museum occupied a single room in the building. The library collection was moved to the Main Library in 1961, and the Museum subsequently expanded to include the entire building. A new wing was added with a generous donation by Dr. T. T. Tsui in 1996, and with this extension, the Museum of Chinese Art and Archaeology expanded its mission to become UMAG.
