On March 16, 1910, the foundation stone of the Main Building was laid. In 1912, the Main Building was opened for the first class of students. The University of Hong Kong, the first in the city, was born.
Over the past century, the Main Building has been standing with generations of students and members of HKU, and Hong Kong. It is a testament to the growth of the University, and the development of Hong Kong.
Time has taken its toll. The Main Building is now urgently in need of restoration and rejuvenation to serve future generations of the University, and indeed, Hong Kong.
You are invited to support the “HKU Heritage – Rejuvenation of Main Building” campaign.
As a token of appreciation, each donor with a donation of HK$900 or above to “HKU Heritage – Rejuvenation of Main Building” will be presented a copy of limited-edition Pictorial Collection of HKU Legacy.
